Aikilab Master Class

Aikilab Master Class with Corky Quakenbush Sensei

What is “Aikilab”?

The Aikilab teaching system isn’t a new style of Aikido but a particular kind of listening to yourself and the attacker that enables Takemusu Aikido, in the sense of Sunadamori Sensei, Aikido that spontaneously arise from the attack to emerge.

It is useful whatever Aikido practice you have, particulary if you are into Ki Aikido or intention-driven, attack-driven Aikido.

An introduction from Corky Quakenbush:

For more background information, please read those training principles and philosophy.

Who is Corky Quakenbush?

Corky Quakenbush is the Sensei at the Kakushi Toride Aikido dojo in West Angeles. He started his Aikido training in 1983 under Megan Reisel, a student of Misugi Saotome Shihan. Corky is heavily influenced by the teachings of Kanshu Sunadomari Shihan (author of Enlightment through Aikido). Other influences and inspirations include Wendy Palmer’s Leadership Embodiment and the work of Paul Linden.

In the above video, Corky shares about his experience of Aikido and how he came to experience with Aikido and energy and do Aiki-Labs. Later on, Aiki-Lab became the name for his system of teaching Aikido. His approach is open to complete beginners in Aikido.

What is the purpose of the master class?

The purpose of the masterclass is :

  • to practice extensively with the Aikilab training system and have your practice develop.
  • to help you develop consistency in your aikilab practice.
  • to let you ask your specific questions on your Aikido practice and how your own Aikido practice can be further developed with the principles of beneficent intention from Aikilab.
  • to be coached and work directly by Corky Quakenbush Sensei.
  • to work and learn with a small group of committed practionners.

Who is this for?

  • Beginners in Aikilab or Aikido. Any person wanting to discover “the power of beneficient intention” through the Aikilab teaching system.
